My History of Life
I am known by the names Aloto David, I come from northern part of Uganda. Well I was abducted in 2001 June 25th and I was out after one year and half in the bush which was on 2003 February 14th but life in the bush was so difficult because I saw so much how people die and shed blood .
Well I was abducted when I was on my way back home from school at 4:50pm. I was with my friend and both of us were abducted and taken to the bush, but after two weeks I lost my friend because he was trying to escape. He was shot dead with everyone who was trying to escape, and to be caught or found is to be shot to death.
It really scared many of us to not escape, but we kept on praying in our heart. We were seriously beaten every morning so that we can’t escape. After three weeks they started teaching us on how to use guns and how to fight and steal. After four month I got used by one commander called James and he was my best friend but he didn’t know my mission.
After one year I was used with the spirit of staying in the bush and everything was moving on well because I was in relationship with one commander.
But after one year and one month I had a dream and it was showing how the people am with killed my family, which was true. The next morning I wanted to escape but something came like holy spirit and said to me “don’t try to escape” then I did not escape. Well after two days there was another mission to go stealing food because food was over at the camp and I was included in the group. That is where I got a chance of escaping. I spent three days in the bush running to reach home, but on my way back home I saw many dead bodies.
When I reached home my family was no longer there and I found that they killed everyone. I stood on my feet and I cried but nothing could come back, and I had nowhere to stay and eat.
I got my way to live on the street. I prayed for myself to have new life but nothing could change my situation on the street. I found my way to Mbale and it was there that God answered my prayer and I was taken to PCCP where I met mum Jane Snyder. I got saved there, and since then I am well off and living a happy life because I got a new family and new mother which I was not having for longtime when I was at the bush and street.
God change my life into a useful way and I started feeling for others like I didn’t have when I was in the bush and street. I thank God for all he has done in my life because he has really protected me in many ways. Recently I almost lost my life, yet God saved me again from death. It was when Nasser and I went to check on his sick kids, but on our way back home we got in a car accident. I was driving the car, but I swerved to miss hitting someone but then I lost control and it overturned twice in the air. We were knocked unconscious and robbed too, but God was with us to save our lives. I really thank God for what He is doing in my life and I can’t stop praising him for the good he is doing for me.
Well I thank God for changing my life and making me a loving human being in this world and to help those who are in need. I promised God that if He helps my life, I will help others and I will be loving to everyone on the earth.
Well I want to thank mum for everything she has done for me, because I am living in a good house and have everything I need. May the Almighty Father bless and protect everything she is doing in her life. amen.

A Note from Jane
David is 18 years old and is now the General Manager of ABU. He handles all of the problems throughout the organization in 7 cities. He and his Assistant for Education Andrew Otim also take care of the 70 ABU kids at Manafwa High School and hostels. It is a huge job, which he carries out easily because he is a good and tough manager.
